Meet the team

Sue Daynes

Proprietor and Director

BA HONS, PGCE

Hi, I’m Sue, Proprietor and ‘Director’ of Noah’s Ark Children’s Nursery. I have 7 years experience teaching in Secondary, further years teaching Post-Compulsory Education and many more years work experience in the Early Years sector.

After the birth of my beautiful son Noah in June 2012, I found the long days of teaching and longer nights of marking taking its toll on my ability to watch my own son grow. I thought to myself- ‘there must be a way to make life for my family better and enjoyable…’ and so I set to work thinking of a way I could create an experience we would both enjoy whilst being able to watch Noah’s development more closely.

With 3 members of my immediate family being involved in Early Years with one of these being an ‘Ofsted inspector for Early Years Providers’ and in total 5 members of my family heavily involved in Education and the welfare of children, a day Nursery looked like a good way of being able to utilise the passions of my family in order to provide not just a fantastic journey for my own son, but the children of many, which in an odd ‘circle of life’ brought be right back to why I went into education in the first place.

My hobbies involve my family and our beloved dog Ernie being outdoors! We have a Small Holding which is also called ‘Noah’s Ark’ and a large vegetable plot; this was our dream to live the ‘Good Life’ and bring our children up in rural Norfolk, understanding the importance and significance of the environment and all it encompasses.

Since opening Noah’s Ark back in September, 2013 word of mouth has been the only form of promotion or advertising we have needed. With 2 consecutive Ofsted gradings of ‘Good’ and many, many glowing reports and recommendations from very happy parents and carers and even happier, more confident and communicative, well-rounded school-ready children… what more could any Nursery owner want?

We are blessed at Noah’s Ark to be in the rural countryside, where we have the most perfect environment to promote an appreciation of all areas of the EYFS through learning and playing in the natural environment. We have the most beautiful Forest School location that we are extremely proud of.

Sarah Watson

Manager

BTEC National Diploma in Childhood Studies Level 3

I’m Sarah. I am the Manager at Noah’s Ark Children’s Nursery.

I have 25 years’ experience of working and caring for young children in a wide range of early years settings. I have previously been a child minder and also a nanny, running my own business. Also, working in other nurseries prior to Noah’s Ark for many years. In 1997 I received my qualification and since then I have been working with children.

For me working in Early Years is not just a profession, it’s a lifestyle due to the bonds we create with your children, and I am constantly looking for inspiration to enhance our setting and the children’s play. I will be working towards gaining a Forest School qualification to enhance our lovely forest school setting and enjoy the great outdoors. I believe that every child is unique, and we should play to their strengths and offer challenges to deepen their learning as individuals and provide them with the skills to be lifelong learners.

At the age of 21 I became a mum and have 3 wonderful children, ages 20, 17 and 16. I have a cocker spaniel called Barbara and 2 guineapigs. In my spare time I enjoy crochet in which I make blankets and all sorts of other creations. Myself and my family also enjoy going on canal holidays and exploring different places.

Lauren Dickerson

Deputy Manager and SENCO

NVQ Level 3 Early Years Educator

I’m Lauren and I am the Deputy Manager and SENCO at Noah’s Ark Children’s Nursery.

I have worked in childcare for 5 years now and I enjoy every second of it. I have worked in two previous settings, the first being an apprentice and then I worked my way up to room supervisor of toddler room, which I then took on in the second setting. Noah’s Ark is a very family orientated nursery and a privilege to be a part of. I have worked with every age range from little babies up to 5 years old, providing me with the best possible experiences in a wide range of ages.

I feel the luckiest person alive when I come into work each day and get to bond and care for your children, in the best possible way that I can. I recently completed my SENCO training and have also completed an Autism course in my spare time. I am a very dedicated and eager learner, always looking to expand my knowledge and better my practice.

Furthermore, having a positive and close relationships with my parents is a big thing for me and is something I have always prided myself in at my previous settings.

In my spare time I enjoy going to the zoo with my partner and family, especially visiting the giraffes! I also enjoy crochet and recently took up sewing on my new sewing machine. I love visiting the beach and having some chips and ice cream, but then again who doesn’t?
